In the academic year 1995-96 The IT Centre has introduced a B.Sc
Degree Programme in Information Technology. The programme, with
contributions from several Faculties of the College, is based
in the Information Technology Centre.
Programme Objectives
The programme is designed to produce graduates with the necessary
theoretical and applied backgrounds needed to pursue careers as
Information Technology professionals in industry, business and
services. The graduates will possess a strong technical background
in computer applications and software engineering, which will
be built upon a solid theoretical foundation in the more scientific
aspects aspects of computing. An objective of this degree programme
is to supplement the core Information Technology discipline with
Business and Language elements.
Programme Structure
The programme is of four years duration. In the third year, students
will also undertake an applied business/industrial project
or placement. The core of the programme provides
a solid theoretical and applied background in Information Technology
and this will be complemented by courses in the two areas of Business
and Applied European Languages.
